Former Pennsylvannians make Gift to New Church

Like many new Florida residents, K. D. and Shirley Minier of The Villages, spent some time getting to know the area around their new home before making up their minds about which church to attend.

They began visiting churches and talking to new friends and neighbors about what some of the local churches offered before deciding where to put down roots. When they did, they selected New Covenant United Methodist Church because it is so "very active."
The Miniers already were faithful United Methodists. They were well established in their church in Pennsylvania, and they naturally wanted to get involved in the many ministry opportunities available here.

In the process, they attended some of the Foundation's workshops on planned giving and decided that they wanted to establish a gift for their new church.

"We were always planning to make a gift to the church at some point," Shirley Minier said. "After we attended the workshops, we decided the time was now."

The Miniers established a charitable gift annuity through the Foundation. The annuity will provide income to them throughout their lifetimes and benefit the church after they are gone.

By the way, the Miniers are completing the "new member" process at New Covenant. They are enrolled in a membership class and they look forward to getting to know more of their neighbors as they become more involved.
